A transformative community welfare initiative was successfully held in the Medadumbara area, brought to life through a powerful combination of spiritual guidance and private philanthropy. The project was conducted under the patronage of Ven. Narampanawe Ananda Thero, the Anunayake of the Asgiri Chapter.

A Vision Powered by Private Donations

The entire community project was funded through the direct financial support of In dra Traders Chairman, Mr. Indra Kumara Silva. His generous contribution provided life-changing support to hundreds of village residents navigating challenging economic times, proving that true leadership extends far beyond the commercial sector.

Initiative Highlights

1. Newly Constructed Houses Handed Over: Two families facing severe housing insecurity were officially handed the keys to brand-new houses, transforming their lives with safe and permanent living environments.
2. Dry Rations Distributed: To alleviate daily economic pressures, 200 low-income families from the surrounding areas received dry ration packs containing essential household items.

This initiative beautifully highlights the personal mission of Indra Traders’ leadership to uplift rural homes across Sri Lanka.

In alignment with the sacred pilgrimage to the Sri Dalada Maligawa, the Indra Group organized a massive community service initiative. Under the spiritual guidance of Most Venerable Narampanawe Ananda Thero and inspired by a concept from the Chairman of Indra Group, Mr. Indra Silva, the staff successfully distributed:

• 10,000 Bottles of Drinking Water

• 10,000 Fresh Rice Parcels

• 10,000 Cups of Yogurt

This meritorious act was dedicated to the thousands of devotees arriving for the pilgrimage. As the ancient teachings remind us: “The alms given by the virtuous shall forever be a source of merit on the path to Nirvana.”

Every living being on this earth possesses the fundamental right to life.

At Indra Traders, we believe it is our collective responsibility as humans to protect and preserve the lives of all creatures. Guided by the compassionate vision of our Chairman, Mr. Indra Silva, and the spiritual counsel of Ven. Narampanawe Ananda Thero, Deputy Registrar of the Asgiri Chapter, we have launched a dedicated initiative to rescue cattle from slaughter.

By providing these animals with safe shelter, we not only preserve life but also support local rural livelihoods and promote a culture of sustainable, compassionate living.
